If you have already started your adoption journey, you know that adoption can be costly and the adoption wait can be lonely. Many prospective adoptive parents go to great lengths to fund their adoptions. There are many grant programs available, but not all of them are inclusive.
In this episode, we talk with Becky Fawcett, adoptive mother of two, and Founder/President of a national financial grant program that helps couples/individuals with the cost of adoption.
Helpusadopt.org was born in her adoption lawyers office when she asked what would happen if she couldn’t write the check. Her lawyer's answer made her realize people were choosing financial ruin to complete their families.
Helpusadopt.org has provided 608 adoption grants totaling over $5.69 million since 2007.
Becky created a program that filled a gap by inviting all individuals/couples regardless of ethnicity, gender, marital status, race, religion, or sexual orientation to apply for grants between $4,000 and $20,000 each. Becky says she wants to help everyone and “I mean it.”
Becky lives in NY with her husband and two daughters. Both of her daughters’ birth mothers had a wish for their children to travel the world and her heart explodes every time they get another stamp on the passport.
